Yes. Absolutely! All gundog training is based on basic obedience so we can help with all breeds. If you have a gundog breed then your dog is most definitely going to benefit from gundog training. This will help you understand your dog and ensure it has the mental stimulation it needs for a content dog. All training will also help the bond with your dog.
Short answer is YES. We can help you work on focus and techniques so that you can leave a session with your dog walking nicely on a lead. You are then equipped to go away and practise and proof the training.
We are not positive only trainers. We don't believe that a dog should never be told "no". We do use positive reinforcement when appropriate and if dogs are started young, you generally need very little other than that. However if your dog has been allowed to self reward we may need to say no, or remove the self reward from it. You need to weigh up the safety of your dog over saying "no"....
Yes. We have many online courses for you to follow that will help you train from a puppy right through to advanced gundog work. We also offer zoom sessions for support. Online learning has many benefits. You can train when it's convenient to you. You can watch things back again and again. It cuts out travelling time. Please see our online training page for full details
Over time, yes. We can work through getting a solid reliable stop whistle. Once that is established we can go into our rabbit and pheasant pens and teach your dog to stop on the flush.
Please bring your dog, the lead you are using, poo bags and any other training aids you may already be using. Such as whistle, treats, toys, dummys etc. However please don't worry too much as we have everything you may need to use on the day
We believe you should train your puppy from the day you bring it home. You want to ensure your dog has manners so you should start the way you mean to go on. Although in the early months training should be more conditioning and fun it's important to start the right way. Our puppy courses run every eight weeks and you pup is welcome to come along as soon as it is fully vaccinated.
A dog is never trained! You won't train your puppy in an eight week puppy course. Training is ongoing and always evolving. Even older dogs should have the mental stimulation of training. As a general rule we wouldn't recommend taking a dog out in to the shooting field until it is 2 years old. This is because although your training may be going well, it simply isn't mature enough. Remember it can't un-see what it has seen!
